Department Policies and Standards


Teachers will develop the student's critical thinking abilities and create appreciation within the student through the process of learning. Goals of obtaining knowledge and applying skills with problem solving strategies will be a constant.

Teachers will create alternative instruction and alternative assessment. Each individual will be treated for their special needs and learning capabilities.

Teachers will use technology in the classroom. Power point and audio-visual materials will be used in presentations to create visual enhancements encouraging the process of learning.

Teachers will use primary sources in history. Students are to understand facts and concepts and create logical argumentation. Students should be argumentative through their individual interpretation of primary sources.

Teachers will be fair. Appeals from students concerning grades will always be reviewed.

Teachers will be communicative. School one web-site with all the student's grades will be regularly updated. Listening is the most important aspect of communication. The teachers will listen to the students before or after classes concerning the issues.
