Student Assessment
Overall department themes:
-Allow critical thinking through written or oral form
-Develop the research and application of primary sources with the use of MLA
-Promote reading, writing, projects, and analysis skills, especially with homework.
-Assess interpretive essay writing.
-Objective Tests with assess critical thinking through the make up of the question.
Overall department themes with alternative assessment for less textual learning students
Students with low standardized tests;
(students file, Iowa Basics, Holy Name Placement, PLAN etc.) and are not achieving through the traditional assessment techniques, individual programs will be engineered.
Students who learn in a different style;
(see Gardner's Seven Different Intelligences)
Students will be given alternative assessment and instruction.
