For over 30 years (no one could give me an exact year) Mr. Ream has coached Holy Name Cross Country. His tenure as coach is longer than any other coach in HN history. Mr. Ream hosted his last Cross Country Banquet on Sunday. It was an emotional event but it was a great celebration for a person that has done so much for the Holy Name community. “Mr. Ream is Holy Name Cross County” explained Patty Moran, an HN graduate of 1986 who has two daughters on the 2011 Cross Country team. “Mr. Ream has created an HN tradition in Cross Country that can not be found in any other sport”. The program mirrors that of a fraternity, with hundreds of kids having celebrated deeply rooted traditions set forth by Mr. Ream. These traditions will certainly be celebrated in years to come…

After the final Cross Country meet of the 2011 season, the team and parents held a surprise party for Mr. Ream. The event was also attended by Mr. Reams family, and a number of HN Cross Country Alumni, some from as far back as the early 1980’s. What a great event and great send off for  Mr.Ream. I, myself was not apart of the HN Cross Country team but have a Freshman that is. I was floored to see what Mr. Ream has created. The highlight of this event was listening  to Mr. Ream and all of the Alumni runners talk about the old days, a true testament to how important a passionate and caring coach is to a program, a team, a student,  and more importantly to a school.

May Mr. Ream’s Legacy live on…he is a true Namer!
