PARMA HEIGHTS – Holy Name football fans will see a new face on the sidelines leading their Green Wave.
The school hired Dan Wondolowski as its new head football coach last week. He will be replacing Mark Pinzone who resigned in April.
“I’ve always wanted to be a head coach ever since I started coaching at Holy Name in 2001 as a special teams coach,” Wondolowski said, referencing his time working under then Head Coach Dan Conwell. “There are some great kids and all around good people involved with the school and a lot of alumni support. I feel like we can bring back a winning tradition that was here in years past.”
Wondolowski, 34, lives in Parma and played on two national championship teams at The University Of Mount Union after graduating from St. Peter Chanel High School.
He did not coach last season due to work obligations. He spent the four years prior as an assistant coach at Notre Dame College, under CoachAdam Howard, in South Euclid where he worked with the defensive backs and defensive line.
He was also the head junior varsity coach.
“Dan brings a plethora of knowledge and experience, as well as enthusiasm, to our football program,” said Athletic Director Jack Richardson via a press release. “His past accomplishments, both on and off the field, will be invaluable as he leads the team to the next level.”
The Green Wave varsity football team finished the 2012 season with a 5-5 overall record and 4-1 in the North Coast League White Division
