The class of 2013 has officially graduated from Holy Name High School! The commencement ceremony took place on May 24 at St. Columbkille. Seniors and their families gathered to celebrate this milestone.
Mr. Patrick Farrell, Jr. opened the ceremony with prayer. Caitlin Welsh and Maddison Sullivan read Scripture readings and Kristen Canda read the Responsorial Psalm. This year’s valedictorian, Denise Scalfano, then addressed the graduates and guests. The senior ensemble then sang Ave Maria.
Kenneth Patrick Gaughan, class of 1997, then addressed the graduates and guests. Kenneth Gaughan is Director of Counseling for the Archdiocese of Washington. Those receiving academic honors were then recognized and then the call of graduates took place. Mr. Ontko gave the concluding remarks and prayer.
This memorable ceremony moved many of graduates and guests to tears. The seniors will carry the memories they made at a place they called home for the past four years with them as they start this new and exciting chapter in their lives.
