Holy Name at Valley Forge football preview, prediction

PARMA, Ohio – Check out a preview capsule and prediction for the Week 3 matchup between Holy Name and Valley Forge.

What: Non-conference game.

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Records: Holy Name 1-1, Valley Forge 1-1.

What to watch: All put one of Holy Name’s five touchdowns against Normandy came on the ground in the team’s 34-14 victory in Week 2. The other came on a fumble recovery in the second quarter, capping off a one-sided 22-point explosion during the second frame as the Green Wave went into halftime leading 28-7.

The Week 2 win improved Holy Name to 1-1 on the young season as they prepare to face Valley Forge in Week 3, which is also sitting at 1-1 coming off of a 31-13 win over Revere. The Patriots also kept things interesting in a close 30-23 loss to North Olmsted back in Week 1. Holy Name struggled in vain against a potent Brecksville-Broadview Heights offense in the season-opener, losing 48-14.

Friday’s game, a virtual battle of Parma Heights as both schools are located within the city, will likely be closer than some may anticipate.
