Holy Name High School | February 14, 2014
On Thursday, February 13, the English and Drama departments combines forces to host Holy Name’s annual Shakespeare Contest. This year’s finalists were senior Joe Guadiz, Junior Katie Suvak and Sophomore Mason Kuhr. Each presented their memorized monologue to faculty judges Mr. Robert Fowler, English, Mr. Mike Mazur, Drama, and Ms. Sarah Gresko, Theology, in hopes of advancing to the regional competition held at the Cleveland Playhouse. “All three demonstrated excellence in both command of the subject matter as well as confidence on the stage” commented Mr. Mazur. Mr. Fowler added “Holy Name should be very proud of the level of difficulty in the texts chosen by the students.” In the end, only one of the finalists could advance to the regional competition. Congratulations to Katie Suvak who will be competing against students from all over Northern Ohio with her selection from “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream”.
