More congratulations are in order!

Congratulations to Sophomore Laura Kolenz and Junior Kat Kinnen who will represent Holy Name in the regional cross country meet this Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in Tiffin, Ohio.  We wish Laura and Kat best of luck this weekend!

This summer, Freshman Cady Newman and Sophomore Halle Newman participated in the “Sheer Talent National Dance Competition” in New York City, competing against students from all over the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.  Cady and Halle scored in the top 5 overall highest routines and have earned full scholarships to an upcoming regional competition in Pittsburgh this March.  Awesome job!

Two new art projects are now adorning my office wall. Congratulations to Freshman Alyssa Ipavec and Sophomore Aaron Herrmann who inked self portraits with the theme of our Book in Common, WONDER, in mind.  These are fantastic additions to my work space!

Our Pro-Life club, under the direction of President Jen DiGeronimo, participated in the National Pro-Life Chalk Day at the beginning of the month.  I am proud to report that our students won the contest for the Right to Life/Youth for Life Organization of Northeast Ohio with some great chalk artwork.  Over 70 students participated in this project.  What a great way to show our love and concern for the unborn!

On behalf of the Admissions Office, I would like to thank all those students and parents that helped at Open House this past Sunday, October 19th.  Thank you for representing Holy Name in such a positive light.

Late last month, Mr. Kenneally, who teaches our History of Ireland course, welcomed Justice Adrian Hardiman of the Irish Supreme Court into his classroom.  Mr. Hardiman recently wrote Mr. Kenneally to express how much he enjoyed his short time at Holy Name and that his visit here was the highlight of his trip.  What a great testament to the wonderful atmosphere here at HN!

We are looking forward to wonderful homecoming events beginning tomorrow with Mass celebrated by Bishop Lennon.   Our homecoming rally will end our day tomorrow and we congratulate those seniors elected by their peers to Homecoming Court:

Peyton Davis, Jen DiGeronimo, Liz DePauw, Rachel Kucharczyk, Mary Ehrbar, Sean Zubek, Adam Schabel, Mike Wallace, Arric Mitchell, and Joe Stibley.

We are excited to see who will be named Homecoming King and Queen!

Join us for our homecoming football game against Cleveland Central Catholic on Saturday at 7 p.m. at North Royalton High School.  Our festivities will end with our annual homecoming dance on Sunday.  It’s going to be a great weekend.

Finally, don’t forget that quarter one report cards will be available at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 30th from 3p.m. to 6 p.m.  Report cards can be picked up in the main office and teachers will be available for brief conferences on a first come, first served basis.  We look forward to seeing you on the 30th!

Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Go Green Wave!
