The Bay Rockets started their season with a 1-4-1 record. Amid a strong turnaround, they tallied 12 straight games without a loss until Oct. 23, when they fell, 3-2, to Holy Name in overtime play for the district championship.
Bay sophomore Sarah Skinner had a read on Holy Name senior captain Caroline Dreher the entire match, but Dreher slipped away in the final moments of overtime to send a shot into the net and seal Holy Name’s district title.
It was Bay’s first appearance in a Division II district finals since 2006, when coach Jack Griffiths watched his own daughter face Holy Name as a senior captain in the exact same match.  < Read More >
