Alumni: Thank You for Joining Us at the 2016 Reunion Weekend
From the Eugene T. Krakowiak Golf Classic, to the Big Creek 5K Run, a fun time was had by all at the 2016 Reunion Weekend.
The three-day celebration began on Thursday, June 9 with the Eugene T. Krakowiak Golf Classic at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley. It was a beautiful day for the 145 golfers to hit the links and enjoy one another’s company. Although the $10,000 Hole-in-One prize was not won, Bill Cheney ’56, Matt Finkler ’99 and Ryan Weber ’98 took first place in the classic itself. After the golfing concluded, Chad Trush ’94 and the Islander Bar & Grille catered a wonderful meal.
Most importantly, more than $13,500 was raised to go toward the Eugene T. Krakowiak Scholarship Fund at Holy Name, ensuring that Mr. K’s legacy continues to live on in the students who benefit from the generosity of so many alumni and friends.
On Friday night, over 100 alumni and friends came together to celebrate the All-School Reunion. Entertainment was provided by Class of 1982 graduate Tina Facca and her band, The Clams, while Coyne Catering took care of the delicious food. Classmates reminisced over class pictures, yearbooks and other memorabilia, and shared their favorite stories from their time as Holy Name students. At the end of the night, the attendees’ attention shifted to the big screen set up in the gym, and everyone cheered on the Cleveland Cavaliers in their game versus the Golden State Warriors.
Bright and early Saturday morning, runners – and walkers – lined up to take part in the Holy Name Big Creek 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk. Brett Fisher ’01 (19:11) and his wife, Dianne (21:32) won the 5K race!
Throughout the day Saturday, members of the Class of 2020 then came to Holy Name to make special tie-dye t-shirts, while also enjoying cornhole games, as well and burgers and hot dogs. The afternoon concluded with a lovely Mass celebrated by Fr. Bob Kraig ’63, the pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in Strongsville.

Thank you to all who attended the Reunion Weekend, and made it a success. We are proud of our alumni, and welcome everyone to attend our next event, the 2016 Homecoming Pre-Game Cookout, at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at North Royalton’s Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium.

Summer Projects: Upgrades Made to Campus During Summer Months
While students are on break, projects are underway to update and improve the school’s facilities. In June, all of the parking lots were re-surfaced and re-lined. The circle that connects Layor Drive and Queens Highway, now named Wondolowski Way, was re-surfaced as well.
Bleachers in the Auxiliary Gym, also known as Manning Auditorium, were removed. With the bleachers now cleared out, there is now room for the installation of more comfortable, up-to-date bleacher seating.
Additionally, the maintenance staff has been hard at work putting new mulch in the landscape beds, cleaning out each classroom, and re-doing the gymnasium floors.
