On Thursday, August 18, Holy Name High School held a groundbreaking ceremony for the school’s new turf field and track project.

Holy Name President Terry Kenneally ’67, Principal Shelbrey Blanc ’95, Athletic Director Jack Richardson ’79, Advisory Board Members Scott Opincar ’87 and Matt Gray ’86, and major donor Rich Cicerchi ’65 were the first to break ground on the field. (A picture of this significant moment in Holy Name’s history is attached to this email.) Several other Holy Name alumni, supporters and students were also on-hand for this special event.

Construction on the field began on Monday, August 22. Before FieldTurf can begin the installation of the new surface, trees must be removed and the current grass field playing area must also be excavated and leveled. In just one week’s time, workers have made significant process on this portion of the project.

During Phase I of the ‘Team Up for Turf’ initiative, the synthetic, multi-purpose athletic turf field will be installed. It will be known as Cicerchi Field, thanks to the generous support of Rich Cicerchi ’65. Holy Name expects this first phase to be completed by early November 2016. The school also has plans for a Phase II, which will include the installation of an all-weather track around the turf field.
