Thanks to a grant from the Ohio Arts Council, Holy Name now has a brand-new, student-created mural on display in the main staircase landing between the first and second floors!
Under the direction of artist-in-residence, Mr. Mark Yasenchak, and with the help of Director of Diversity and Inclusion Mr. Jason Reed and Art Department Chair Mrs. Beth Ryan, students designed and executed the mural from start to finish. The overall theme began as ‘I Am’ and evolved to ‘We Are.’ Each face on the mural was created using words hundreds of Holy Name students submitted to describe themselves. From vibrant, worthy, blessed and faithful, to intelligent, passionate, driven and powerful, these words can be used to illustrate past, current and future Namers.
Now on display for all to see, the mural’s message is clear: Everyone that is a part of Holy Name is an individual with diverse traits that are unique to him or her. However, we are all one family, loved by God, and we support, include and celebrate one another. We are, Holy Name.
