Kevin W. Day ’78
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.), specifically Accounting/Finance, Ashland University
What activities were you involved with as a student at Holy Name?
I played football, basketball, and baseball, was a class officer, participated in Glee Club, and performed in the spring play.
Who was your favorite teacher and/or what was your favorite subject?
I enjoyed both Mr. Maras and Mr. Wilks for English. I learned about the “Triple Threat” of Mind, Body and Spirit. I also remember celebrating birthdays and hearing about the Little David stories!
What is your fondest memory of Holy Name?
Meeting my future wife (Diane Godec Day ’78), of course. The second was pulling into Holy Name’s Harvard and Broadway campus on the team bus after winning the football state championship in 1975. The excitement was breathtaking!
How did Holy Name prepare you for your life as an adult?
Holy Name helped me build a solid foundation, and provided me with the skills, values, commitment, passion and perseverance to overcome adversity, making my aspirations a reality. At the same time, Holy Name taught me to never lose site of faith, family and community, all of which are at the essence of being a Namer!
What does Holy Name mean to you?
Not only is Holy Name where I met my wife, but it is also where I created lifelong friendships, wonderful memories and a passion to be of service to others. So much so, that all three of our daughters are Namers (Emily ’08, Ellen ’09 and Elissa ’12)!
