Tim Carter Named Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Holy Name High School

Holy Name High School is pleased to announce that Tim Carter has been named the head varsity boys’ baseball coach. He takes over for Dennis Markiewicz ’71, who retired at the end of the 2016 season.

Carter is no stranger to the Green Wave baseball program. He was the assistant varsity baseball coach from 1995 to 1996, and was the head varsity coach from 1999 to 2006. He stepped down at the end of the 2006 campaign due to a professional job change.

“I’m very excited to return as the head varsity baseball coach at Holy Name,” said Carter. “I started my own company in October 2015, which now gives me more flexibility, and more time to coach high school baseball. I look forward to working with these young men as we prepare for the 2017 season.”

In addition to his previous coaching experience at Holy Name, Carter also was an assistant coach at Cuyahoga Community College from 1997 to 1998, and has coached in the Brecksville Travel Baseball Organization for the past ten years.

Carter, who was a first-team all-state baseball player at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, attended Miami University (Ohio) on a baseball scholarship and graduated from the school in 1992. During his time at Miami, he was a first-team Mid-American Conference selection twice (1989 and 1990), and also received an all-region academic honor in 1990. Carter was then drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the June 1990 amateur draft, and played for three years in their organization.
