Music Scholarship
The Class of 2031 Music Scholarship Auditions will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Holy Name High School.
- Scholarships can be awarded for performance on voice and/or an instrument.
- Students who receive a music scholarship must participate in the required performance class each year and renew their scholarship each year in May.
- Students with scholarships could be awarded up to $2,000 off their tuition each year.
Register with the auditioning student’s name and pick one time slot. Auditioning for both instrumental and vocal? Pick two time slots in a row. On the day, please enter through the Main Entrance.
What to Prepare
Auditions are scheduled to be 10 minutes in length. If your student plays more than one instrument, please select one to be used for auditions.
Brass, Woodwind & String
Please prepare one octave of the following major scales
- C instruments: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab
- F instruments: G, C, F, Bb, Eb
- Bb instruments: D, G, C, F, Bb
- Eb instruments: A, D, G, C, F
- String instruments: D, C, G, A, F
Prepare a piece that best represents your musical abilities. A short sight-reading excerpt will be provided.
Percussion
- Please prepare two rudiments on snare drum, either Steady Beat Tempo or Open-Close-Open: Double Stroke Open Roll, Single Paradiddle, Flam, Drag, Nine Stroke Roll, Flam Tap
- Prepare a piece that best represents your musical abilities
- A short sight-reading excerpt will be provided
- Please prepare one octave of the following major scales on a mallet instrument: C and Bb
A snare drum will be provided; please provide snare sticks. Bells and marimba will be provided with mallets; students will pick which instrument they prefer to play.
Vocal
- Please prepare a piece that best represents your musical abilities (you may use your own accompaniment recording if desired)
- Vocal auditions will also include a pitch-matching exercise with the piano
- A short sight-reading excerpt will be provided
Piano
- Please prepare two octaves, hands together, of the following major scales: D, G, C, F, Bb
- Choose two pieces that best represent your musical abilities (preferably a “fast” and a “slow” piece)
- A short sight-reading excerpt will be provided

Visual Art Scholarship
The Holy Name Visual Art Scholarship is available to current 8th graders interested in attending Holy Name High School for the 2027–2028 academic year. Students who demonstrate artistic knowledge and creativity through original works could be awarded up to $2,000 off their tuition each year.
To apply, students must submit an email with a digital portfolio by Friday, November 13, 2026. Students will receive feedback and scholarship eligibility information in December 2026.
Portfolio requirements
Please submit 8 to 10 of your best pieces, showcasing your skills without overextending your submission. Sketchbook pages are encouraged to illustrate your creative process, while copied works should be avoided. Additionally, students must include a two-paragraph artist statement with their submissions.
Formatting guidelines
- Digital photographs of the artwork should be submitted as individual .pdf files or compiled into one slideshow.
- The two-paragraph artist statement can be submitted as a document, .pdf, or within the slideshow itself.
How to submit
All digital portfolios should be emailed to admissions@holynamehs.com with the subject line Class of 2031 Art Scholarship Portfolio. In the body of the email, please include:
- Student’s first and last name
- Current grade school attending

- Technical skill
- Conceptual problem-solving
- Creativity
- Medium choice
