MEET THE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Hi, I’m Jurell Sison. I’ve spent more than 15 years working in brand storytelling, digital strategy, and community-focused communication across higher education, nonprofit work, creative agencies, and collaborations with national brands and artists. Wherever I’ve been, my goal has stayed the same: use mission-driven storytelling to strengthen communities and help people feel connected. In the end, I think it’s stories that will save us.

At Holy Name, I oversee our marketing and communications strategy — everything from how we tell our story, to how we support families with clear and consistent information, to how we showcase the incredible work our students and staff are doing every day. I also lead our student marketing internship program, which gives students hands-on experience in writing, design, photography, videography, and digital content creation.

I’m passionate about helping young people discover their voice, grow in confidence, and contribute to something larger than themselves. My hope is that the work we do not only reflects who we are as a school, but also helps shape the next generation of creative thinkers, leaders, and storytellers.

If you’d like to collaborate or learn more about our work, I’d love to connect.

Yes, It’s unpaid—but here is what you’ll get in return…

"Throughout my time being mentored by Jurell, I grew in ways I did not expect. He has a rare ability to listen deeply, challenge you thoughtfully, and help you see strengths you did not know you had. Every meeting, whether quick feedback or a long conversation, left me with new insight and motivation.

Jurell’s mentorship helped me shape my creative voice, expand my skillset, and pursue opportunities I would never have otherwise. His guidance has played a significant role in my success as a content creator and filmmaker."

Owen Z.

“As a mentor, he has gone above and beyond to not only teach me valuable lessons, but empower me to eventually make decisions on my own. He has shown me what humility and trust looks like from a professional standpoint. He is intentional about every decision he makes and invites others to do the same.

Working with him and for him have been nothing shy of an absolute blessing in my life and I am so proud to say he is the reason I have landed on both feet upon graduating from college. If you have the chance to talk to him, learn from him, work with him, jump on it.”

Kahrin S.

“Working with Jurell as a marketing intern is one of those experiences I still carry with me. He created a space where I learned by doing the work. Whether it was trying new things, asking questions, or messing up a little, I felt supported the whole way through.

The projects I worked on with him ended up being some of the first things I ever felt proud to show, and the skills I picked up are ones I use in every job I do now. I grew so much in confidence because he trusted me with meaningful work. Jurell is the kind of mentor who meets you where you are and pushes you toward what you’re capable of. Anyone who interns with him will walk away having learned so much and feeling genuinely cared for in the process.

Bella S.

"Working with Jurell gives you a clear picture of what high-level creative work looks like. He sets expectations, communicates with clarity, and gives you real responsibility so you can grow through hands-on experience. His feedback is specific, actionable, and rooted in helping you get better at your craft.

He is also highly intentional about team dynamics. He recognizes strengths quickly and builds groups where each person can contribute at their best.

Jurell’s creativity and clarity sets a high standard for anyone interested in media or content creation. Anyone who has the chance to work with him will gain practical skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to create excellent work."

Jacqueline S.

Where THEY’RE AT NOW

When I first met Kahrin, she had never even held a camera. But she came to me with a strong desire to to tell stories and drive to learn like I’ve never seen. She wanted to use filmmaking to make a difference in the world.

She took everything thing that I taught her about cinematic storytelling and human connection to a whole new level.
